GastonD if you would be willing to share those, I'll give you specific information on how to get into the site to view the ones I'm speaking of.I believe I already have '90 and '91 in PDF somewhere, but those before and the rest of the '90s would be awesome.
OK, so I have been thinking about doing this for years but do not want to take on the entire project myself. I know there has to be other guys out there that have every issue of Bass Player magazine like I do. Here is what I have been wanting to do.
I feel there is a wealth of knowledge in those magazines that I would like to have at a much easier level of access when instructing my students and referring to specific articles or what have you. Now since most of those are out of print and unavailable as back issues, it is impossible to get them any other way than to find a used copy.
So here is what I propose, well hypothetically. If there are other guys willing to help, we could each take a couple of years and scan them into PDF format and then swap. Since we [those involved] own all of the magazines anyway, we would not be infringing on any legal issues by swapping our archives with one another. Right? Any legal help here from someone?
Anyway, I would love to have 20 years of Bass Player in my computer, rather than taking up 6 feet of shelf space in my studio. And I mean everything, cover to back cover, ads and all.
So what do you guys think?
Scott Pazera
I think you might want to check out Scott on YouTube before you leave that comment. I personally like to practice the insane amount of transcriptions in those magazines.I think you should spend the time practicing your bass.
I think they respect copyright, so scanning magazines going back "only" 30 or so years is probably not applicable for IA.If this project ever starts up again, I strongly recommend reaching out to the Internet Archive.
