Bass POD xt Pro / Live Not Selling?

After a lot of research on the TalkBass forums, and previous positive experience with Line 6 products (Flextone 3), I decided that I would purchase a Bass POD xt Pro rack unit with a FBV floor switch or a Live unit for my needs.

But after checking with four different major online sellers, all have discontinued selling the products. What's up with that?

Are the products not selling well? Is there tension between Line 6 and the retailers? Have there been problems with the products? Or is Line 6 drying up the market in anticipation of a newer/better product?

If the last speculation is true, I'd vote for a rack mount device with a floor switch extension unit. At age 55, as another forum member put it, "the floor is becoming a long ways down".

So where are these units available?

Line 6 didn't want to support two different pieces of hardware when they could cover guitar and bass with one which is why there wasn't a bass version of the X3L. The X3L *is* the bass version. You lose the crossover, but you pick up a lot of guitar effects and it's stereo which may or may not be cool for recording.

Some bassists were upset that there wasn't a bass specific version of the X3 but my guess is that the numbers just aren't there for justifying a separate bass version of the product. If there wasn't a combination bass/guitar/vocal version of the X3 then my guess is that we wouldn't see a X3 bass version. On the plus side you can get a lot of nice textures combining a bass and guitar amp. The only downside to the X3 Pro (rack version) is that it's now a 3U unit instead of a 2U unit.

NewCountryBass: eBay or Craiglist is your best bet.

Here's one on eBay now(not me):
http://cgi.ebay.com/Line-6-Bass-Pod...QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item20af6a3e1e

and another:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Line-6-Bass-Pod...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c100d2b36

Both sellers are 100% rated(the best).
If I wanted one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them via PayPal.
My XTLive was bought from an eBay Line 6 "authorized" dealer.

For better or worse, they were supplanted by the X3 series. Which may or may not be able to drive their XLR outputs at line level... :scowl:

As soon as I get my hands on one I'll see if we can cook up a fix for that nonsense. It SHOULD be incorporated and switchable between LINE LEVEL and MIC LEVEL. I've been using an XTLIVE since they came out so the X3 will be an upgrade & the XT will become a "backup" preamp.
