That Bass Buddy is expensive, compared to a Pandora, which is about $100.

But it does have a few bells and whistles, like a DI and a compressor/limiter.

Are there any reviews anywhere else than on the site?

Note that with a Pandora and a SansSamp, I am well covered.

Just got a Pandora P5XD and I am impressed. It has more features than I need but I was able to find a nice practice sound among the wide range of amp & speaker models, reverbs and effects. The effects are fun, especially the various distortions and fuzzes. The most used feature for me is the ability to play along with an aux like an mp3 and change the pitch of the aux (without changing the speed) to match my bass tuning. Good for learning songs. Some interesting beats in the metronome so you can practice meter without getting bored. USB allows it to be used as an audio interface for recording onto the computer.

I doubt if the quality of the effects and sounds are good enough to do serious recording with but it's very useful as a practice tool and a lot of fun.

i've moved into a small 2-bedroom apartment after being in a house for several years, so i can't rock out with my svt these days (sniff, sniff). i have a 100w bass combo, but i was wondering what are some practice tools/toys that are out there?

i guess i'm looking for something with a headphone jack, a metronome, song selection playback (a slowdown feature would be nice). i would mostly use it for practice and for learning songs from mp3 files.

i haven't been paying much attention to the latest and greatest toys out there - last i remember hearing, the korg pandora was good for this kind of thing. is it still, or does anyone have any other recommendations?
I am using a VOX Bass Headphone Amp and it works great! It even has a built in drum machine with variable tempo! and it is LOUD if you want it to be...hope this helps.

I have a Pandora too, but ended up using the Vox Amplug all the time. The fact that it goes straight into the bass and no need for cables was crucial. It has an aux in, so I use my phone for all those other features, including practicing with iRealPro etc.
