Speaking of which, I badly miss Gia and Tifa! Has any heard from are talked to them lately? I pm'ed both of them along with many others after the Tubes deal, but haven't head from them since.

I respect your opinion, Bruce, but I honestly have no idea how you pulled it from what I said. I never said women should wear a shirt designed to appeal top them, I said it should be available. Your point of view seems to indicate that we should reduce the number of choices for women bassists and make them dress in clothes that males generally prefer. In my experience, all the female bass players I've met want to be treated no differently from anybody else - they like music and bass - that's why they do it - and the last thing they want is be seen as some kind of sex-object!

All I can say is my wife isn't a bass player but wants one of those shirts in pink. I'll probably get her one soon.

Not to stereotype or anything, but a female, from real-deal experiences I've witnessed (I've actually been outside, away from a computer and all that weird stuff), would be more apt to wear something that says "princess" on it. Hell, my 10 year old daugther has 2 shirts that I can think of that say just that. And she picked them. Some of her friends have them too. gasp, it's a conspiracy.

Not EVERY female. As I said before, as a 61 year old woman, I'd look funny in something that said pricess. Now if it said "BASS QUEEN" or the gender-neutral "BASS ROYALTY."

God forbid that women exist that actually want to be feminine. I dig feminism -- equal rights and all that stuff -- but I never understood it when some women wanted to take it so far as to eliminate the differences between male and female. It's supposed to be about equal rights, right? Supposed to be about, you know, making your own decisions? The "women should never be sex objects," or the "you should never think of a woman as sexy, because that's demeaning her" is the kind of ass-backwards thinking that I just do not understand. To say that offering feminine clothes to female teenagers (not many older females -- 25+ -- would really dig the "princess" deal, just look at Boplicity) is patronising or in any way sexist is, frankly, dumb, and I'm sorry Bruce, but I think you'd better think twice before speaking for the women on TB. As a 17 year old male, I couldn't even begin to count the number of girls at my school parading around shirts or pants with emblems like "princess" or "cute."
PS: Also, aren't a couple of the (very) few girls on here really feminine anyway? Gia and Tifa aren't exactly gallavanting around in ponchos and waders hoping that no one will discover they're girls. I can see these things selling pretty decently, considering the demographic of female bassists is rather small.
Nothing wrong with "girlie" clothes. I mean, poop, my wife wears "girlie" stuff. I see other women nearly every day wearing such "girlie" clothing. Sorry, but I don't get the "outrage" over this.

Aaron: Bruce wasn't talking about the shirts. But it's true, a lot of the times bands request to have female bassists because they are attractive, not talented.
My girlfriend plays bass and *whispers* my pet name for her is princess* so im gonna get her one after i get some money.
