BASS QUITTERS ON CRAIGSLIST

Don't blame the kids for quitting. They get GH for Xmas and ask for real gear by their birthday. They never would have thought of it on their own.

Dad doesn't actually want to spend any time with the kid, so he throws money to show his love and what says love more that something hanging high on a big box wall.

Soon little Johnny realizes there's some work involved and since he never really had any interest, he's out.

Seriously, who cares about this? What does this have to do with finding good deals on instruments? But hey...I'll play along.

Even if bass was easier to play well than guitar, what does that even mean? Does that mean that bass players are mentally slow, untalented, or inferior? If anyone feels that way, then they simply should not play with any bass players. It's that easy to fix.

You gotta problem with bassists or you don't like bassists, don't play with 'em...ever...period. Comparisons and insults just make a person (guitarist or whoever) look insecure. It's as easy as, "I play bass. You think I'm not as smart or talented as you then don't play with me. I'll live." :hmm:

I've played drums, clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar, and bass. The only instrument I found easy than the guitar was the drums. Personally, I find bass much harder than guitar. Chords can hide alot of slop. It's hard to hide slop in a single note. Not to mention that alot of guitar players like OD or distortion, you can hide all sorts of slop in that! Bass players often play clean and even try to EQ to highlight and clarify the notes exposing themselves to even more scrutiny. IMHO, bass is a lot harder than guitar.

RockBand...now that's easy.

Unless you're playing an English concertina ... which is mainly single line melody ... I think bass is tons easier. Then again, I played 'at' bass when I was a Tuba player so a lot transfers.

Why?? Because you've created a plethora of new and semi-new basses out there(ooops, forgot to mention amps too!)for us serious guys to choose from at low to bargain basement prices.

I'd also like to thank Guitar Center for creating an environment of rock n' roll stardom for Dad and Junior in the bass department. And for repeating the mantra "bass is easy" to unsuspecting teens. You've made it a pleasure to shop and bargain and lowball online.

That might be true in your area but in Massachusetts, people are asking much more than what the instruments are actually worth. I typically see used instruments on Craigslist Boston for a higher price than I can buy them for at GC or other retailers.

I don't know much about bass quitters because most of gear I see failed beginners sell is low end Squire gear which I have no interest in. I do have a big Thank You to DJ quitters on Craigslist. I've put together a quality band PA system on the cheap by buying used gear from kids that out grow the DJ fad. Power amps, mixers, cases, lighting equipment etc.....all good stuff for cheap.

In my neck of the woods, if you post stuff on CL that is higher than GC, you're begging for a flame fest.

I agree also, that most of the crap listed on CL from quitters is usually low end Squier/Ibanez stuff.

Not to be a predator, but the real deals are players who have come upon hard times or lost their job. Those folks usually have decent stuff and are willing to bargain.
