I just sold my Schecter Stiletto Studio-5 FF bass. I love the look and the feel of it, but I just couldn't manage to get the punch I wanted out of it with the EMGs that came stock. I also have a Schecter Diamond Series Elite-5, so selling has put me where I can invest in something new. That being said, I play in multiple cover bands covering rock, pop, and country.
I've been looking at a few basses and trying to research pickups. One is the Ibanez Premium SR5FMDX2 that has a pair of Nordstrand Big Singles. The other one is also an Ibanez; the BTB865SC. It has a pair of Bartolini BH2's.
I don't have a lot of experience with bass pickups and the closest music stores that I could find that carry the same or similar models is a 5 hour round trip, which sucks. So, the easiest option is just to research as best I can and order one.
Any thoughts on these? Is there another bass with different pickups that might would be better for what I'm wanting? I'm all ears! Thanks, in advance!
P.S. I play with my finger and a pick. I don't slap much, but I'm practicing!
