Bass recording pre-amp

If YOU don't care about your sound, why in the hell would you expect anyone else to care?

MY sound may not be liked by others, and fair enough...but if they don't like it then they should provide an alternative - I mean, its THEIR gig or THEIR recording I'm playing on...if the rig or BOD doesn't work for them then its THEIR responsibility to make it "right" and fit with the track, all I'm doing is playing through the equipment I've got which makes the bass sound good and if they don't provide an alternative then I've lost the gig, but SO WHAT? I'm not spending hundreds of pounds on something which **MAY, EVENTUALLY** get used when I'm perfectly happy with my sound and I'm recording in a bloody recording studio with superior gear to my pod and Kustom rig/Ashdown combo...to people who CAN afford it, go for it...but to people who'd be broke if they bought expensive alternative preamps then just get a Behringer Sansamp copy, a 2nd hand POD, and make sure you have a nice amp...:cool: :spit:

"Junk" == "Not Boutique" apparently.

(This from a guy who thinks the Sansamp's a pip).

I think you hit the nail on the head there...

I don't think you did - I mean, is it compulsary for bassists to have £800 worh of preamps and other gear which they're not likely to use on a session when they never get money out of playing them anyway? - wise up...its just common sense man...maybe 2 versatile amps and a pod along with a selection of basses, if the producer can't get the sound he wants out of them then why isn't HE playing it himself or using MIDI?
