I just had some AWESOME work done on my bass in South Boston. Quite a trek from my home in South Seattle, but well worth it.
Michael of Boston Bass Works knows his stuff, and was patient with my tweaking requests.
I got a new fingerboard, a scalloped one that is higher on the G and D than it is on the A and E. He cut a bridge to fit it better, and it feels like a new instrument.
Also, if you have to fly (which sucks), JetBlue was pretty accommodating, although anything over 100 lbs is always a gamble. Go for nonstop flights.
