I think that the good thing with fusion players soloing is that they are pretty much the best around, and often have not only the chops but the vision and the voice to make a great solo.

I,m with you, more of a great bass part guy than a soloist afficinato, that said I do enjoy a good bass solo if it speaks to me, Im especially fond of Ralphe Armstrongs work. Great bass player, one monster of a soloists too.
