EDIT: I can't figure out how to break the link so that they don't show up as a video and take up so much screen real estate, sorry!
Unsure if this is floating around somewhere else... but I just happened upon it and thought it was definitely worth sharing. Doesn't speak to the player's experience and the feel, but gives an idea of what they sound like!

"I hope that the links help for a first impression of the strings. It is impossible to show all the qualities of the strings with recordings and to fully know how they sound as there are so many different music-sound situations. The colour of the strings is similar in every bass in my opinion but the feeling playing them could be completely different in different basses. Good luck trying to find your strings!! To do this recordings it was especially useful for deciding myself and I hope it helps a bit to anyone looking for strings and wondering about some small differences between them. For obvious reasons I am not able to record every string in the market so I have chosen few of them used specially in classical music with the double bass. The recordings have been made with an iphone 4s and I have tried to find the driest possible room for checking the natural harmonics of the strings specially with the Dittersdorf that it has many short notes. Bottesini I record it for listening the different colours of the strings and the Dittersdorf for the clarity and speed in attacks"
