bass suggestions?

i have just started my search for a new bass and was wondering if anyone has any imput or suggestions. i currently have a fender mexican jazz bass but im looking to upgrade to sadowsky, pavel, fodera, mtd or other brands. thanks

I agree with the guy who posted before me whose name consists of numbers and letters.

I always recommend Warmoth. Excellent quality, CHEAP compared to everything else, plus you get to design it so it's exactly what you want ;).

Yeah, I have to think that jumping from MIM Fender to Sadowsky is NICE, but not necessary. I personally don't have any plans to move up to Sadowsky, as I don't make a living from bass, and I play in dives. That being said, the $1000 range instruments make me very happy. I have 2 Lakland Skylines... DEFINITELY worth trying out, but there are TONS of basses out there that would be a big jump in quality over MIM Fenders. IMHO.

youre gonna have to do research yourself. nobody here will know what bass is best for you. it depends on the style you play, the sound you want, your physical size and strength, what you want it to look like.

do some research as to what sound you want, and then go from there.

on the other hand, your post makes you sound a bit of a no0b, and as such, a MIM jazz is plenty of bass for you. you dont want to go messing with fodera or sadowsky unless you really know what you want.

also, consider modding your MIM Jazz. i just did it to one ive had for a few years, put new pickups in it and turned it into a fretless. now its my favorite bass again.
FYI the main difference between an american and a mexican jazz are the pickups, get a decent replacement pair and it will be night/day. and MUCH cheaper

thanks for the advice, the list of basses i named is definitely a stretch but i just wanted to see what specific details or input people had about these basses in case i do get the finance and find such a bass used. any body have any suggestions for around the 1000 dollar range? iv been looking at some of the lakland basses but im getting mixed reviews about them
