Bass swap

Hello Everyone,

Just wonder if You could help. Having nice custom made GMR got an offer of swap to Fender USA 75 Reissue.
How good and bad is this bass? Is it worth to loose custom bass for "factory" bass?

I don't have any experience with GMR, but they do look beautiful. Totally on ethe opposite side of the spectrum of what a Jazz RI is, so making a fair comparison of what is "worth it" will be impossible. It all boils down to what YOU want in a bass....how do you feel about each of those basses? If you absolutely hate the GMR (it can happen...people are fickle...) and would love a Jazz bass, then the swap sounds like a good idea...but if you can't part with the GMR, you will begin to regret the trade within 2 minutes.

If you are just wondering what it would be like to have a Jazz, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting one anywhere on the planet. Just save a few bucks and buy some sort of Jazz.

Id say no until after you have the GMR and have thoughrouly tested it out to see if you bond with it . remember those reissues are ten a penny (not quite) but a custom made bass is more difficult to obtain in your choice of timber , colour , electronics and sizes .

I stole that from my grandfather. He would say that about comparing any two things that were worlds apart. He was a trip.

I'm sure they are both very nice basses....just very different.

I just keep one lying around. It helps to find lost items. Lost TV remote, swing the dead cat.

I was working at a guitar store when I saw that they had "re-issued" a bass nearly identical to the one I owned in high-school - my dreaded '77 J. 3 bold, heavy, too much finish - just bad. Of course, the re-issue was actually *much better* than the original because even Fender couldn't bring themselves to make a bass that bad on purpose!.

Being the proud owner of an exquisite example the question I ask is "What took them so long?" The pearl block bound neck alone made it reissue worthy!
