ok those of you expecting tips on playing or special licks and fills should hit the "back" button about now this forum is for tricks with the actuall bass i.e spinning it round your head that sort of thing
step by step pictures are good, links and video's are even better
explain your trick in an easy to understand method and only post tricks that you can sucessfully complete
anyone attempting to copy or learn any tricks you read on here do so at your own risk

When I see old photos and films of bands of distant yesteryear.. I wonder how many fine instruments were lost doing absolutely stupid tricks with them, causing straps to slip off of strap buttons.. I know I've never showboated anything I've ever owned and therefore never dropped expensive investments.

Don't ever do a bitch toss with straplocks thinking you're safe. You're throwing a 10lb object at full force depending on two tiny screws held an inch deep in wood. The only way to safely do a BT is to take your strap and duct tape it securely to the body of the bass. It disperses the force over a much larger area and doesn't put strain on the pins.

unless you get the dimarzio strap locks. they screw the strap directly into the instrument with 2 inch screws, they are huge and dont go anywhere! The strap kinda sucks but its slippery (seatbelt material) for spinning. I have one that I use and its great for what I need it for. You could always use that same idea and just screw your favorite strap with large washers into the bass and it will not go anywhere.

but yeah dunlops and schallers can pull out, ive had that happen :(

I would never do the spinning thing with €1700 worth of bass.

It can work a million times but it only takes one time of going wrong to really screw up the instrument, surrounding equipment furniture or people.

I saw two guys doing something similiar to Invalid Link Removed on bass (yes i know the video is a guitar but it gives you the idea) man it was a real crowd pleaser funktastic experience though.

thats why alot of people play with beaters. whats the fun if you cant have fun with your bass. sounds like your bass owns you

Its seen the road and is definitely not dingless. Even if I had a beater I'd still be afraid of everything else around me.

If this guy was where the mic stand is for example he could of cleanly taken out one of the audience members....funny vid though.
