Has anybody tried one of these yet? Thoughts? I think it looks pretty interesting imo

i dunno, the price isn't what I'd call great. there are tons of "tubescreamer for bass" pedals around. The blend knob suggests to me that they probably haven't changed much else besides maybe the eq settings.

the tubescreamer is a classic overdrive circuit. excellent for pushing all-tube amps... if you're a guitar player

Seriously though, Tubescreamers have been used by plenty of bass players, modded and unmodded. They have a pronounced mid-hump, especially with the gain set high (like any gain-pushing pedal). Proper bass implementation necessitates some EQ correction to compensate for the heavy mids when gain is cranked. Less of a problem at lower-gain settings.

The Digitech Bad Monkey is a darn good budget tubescreamer; the "badder" bass version is even better IMO (though it's not ideal if you like a bright OD sound).

Doesn't sound that good to me. Not a fan of the buzz or "fart" that seems to sit right on the top of the signal. Doesn't seem too natural of an overdrive IMO...

I suspect he'd offer the same mods as on the TS9 (808 redux or Brown or Silver mods), but maybe he'll tweak the Bass/Treble controls to be more "musical."

I'm just about to send him my TS9DX (Turbo TubeScreamer) to get the Silver mod. I've been using "Hot" mode on it for a thin layer of distortion on my bass and like it okay already. I'm hoping the mod will really clean up the tone.

I'll send him a note about the TS9B and see what he says.

I love the TS-9 I modded. I don't think its gonna get replaced ever. Those clips sound terrible. SO MUCH HISS.

How does it hold the lower frequencies ? Is it better to loop it through a blender (in my case a Boss LS-2) ?
