Bass VI Alternatives?

I think it's a WD telecaster, maple board

I got one from Warmoth for one of my Telecasters

My interest is in a 30" scale conversion neck, I should have been clear. Warmoth's VI neck doesn't match the neck pocket on a standard Fender and WD doesn't make a 30" conversion neck. The only ones I've ever seen are from EGC and DC Kunkle. I also have read that Danelectro's 30" neck will fit a Telecaster body.

It's cheaper to buy a Danny'lectro...

My eastwood doesn't have one, 7ender style vibratos are the worst, no idea why they get copied....

I may experiment with a wrap tailpiece next time I start messing with strings.

The Jazzmaster/Jaguar vibrato system is perfectly fine if set up properly, on guitars at least, I can go pretty wild with my Jazzmaster's vibrato and it has no issues with tuning stability. I don't know why Leo chose to use it on the Bass VI though, doesn't seem like it has much usable range.

This one is on Reverb right now. Shipping is a bit ridiculous, but you might be able to talk them down on the asking price. Even at the current price, I think you'd be happy with it. Please buy it so I don't keep looking at it.

Yikes! A brand new one from Thomann is only $198 with a similar shipping cost. I guess I'm confused why someone would pay more than a hundred dollars more for a used one?

only if it's a 30" scale neck.

the barry-tones tend to be around 27"
I think the Warmoth neck makes your Fender guitar a 28.5" scale. There are versions of the Fender bass vi that use a 28.5, so I assume it works, but 30" has become the standard.

Some Hagstrom baritones are also 28.5, and I know people tune those down to E without issue.

This thread popped up at the right time, I'm going the Danny'lectro route for a backup to my eastwood.

The Gretsch baritone has a 29.75" scale length and is tuned B to b, but with that scale length I can easily see it being tuned E to e like a Bass VI. I even hear that it was originally marketed as a Bass VI before being rebranded as a baritone.

I got to play one at my local Guitar Center. It was a lot of fun to play and I might have walked out with one if it weren't for the guitar spacing, which I'm still not quite used to. Maybe one day... :smug:

-Cal.
I've played one that was tuned and set up for E to e. Played just fine.

I’m in the same boat. What’s the model code for the strings you used?

This is the new Fender VI set I bought
