so here's the deal me and my band played live yesterday for the first time. Everything was perfect but my bass volume was not enough. So I'm going to buy an effect to boost my volume but i don't know what type of effect i should buy for that.

get a clean boost pedal. there's also many other [gain-based] pedals u can run in your chain at zero settings that may give u a transparent-enough boost, but right.. as you said in your post you're looking for a boost-only pedal.

let me suggest the BBE Boosta Grande or the Mxr mc401 Boost pedal
Both should give u +20db of clean boost which should suffice

Rather, have you thought it may even be your amp power? what size rig are u running and what sorta venues are u playing? Can u connect to PA at all?

Need to get someone to stand far back and listen to your sound during rehearsal. What you and the guitarist hear on the stage is not the same as the audience. Sometimes you feel you not have enough volume but actually is alright. I try that many times, no matter how i turn up i won't be able to hear myself much. Try boost the mid and use the bridge pickup abit more and see how it goes.

No effect would really help that by boosting the volume. Just turn up the volume on the amp. Some other things might help you to cut through a bit more though. How do you EQ? Try boosting the mids a bit. A compressor might work as well.

After being blasted out by various bands, I finally fixed the problem.... Carvin B1500 (1900 watts) into two 4ohm cabs. I rarely ever need to go above 3 on the volume now, and usually stay around 2.5 on the gain. If I need to, I can unleash a deep roar similar to a tornado.... it's great!!:)

There is only one pedal on the face of the earth that will properly address your problems... and they are getting extremely hard to come by. I hear the new one will have a MID knob when it comes out next year.

Honestly, I think you're in the wrong forum. An effect pedal is NOT going to help you in this regard.

Try asking this in the Amps forum, but be sure to give us more info than what you already have, or we don't know how to help you. There could be a number of problems that a simple answer wouldn't address.

Tell us about your rig (what are you using and how did you set up your knobs?), your band situation (what style do you play, and what are you playing against? One guitarist? Two?), and the venue (do they have a PA system?).
