Bass Weight Obsession.

i have shoulder damage. i simply cannot play a bass that weighs over 8 pounds without pain and further damage, so to me, weight is of primary importance. and lots of people have neck or back issues with similar weight requirements.

besides, when playing 3 or 4 long sets in an evening, a lighter bass is a huge plus...

I've got injuries to both knees and can't stand or rock out on a hard surface for two or more hours even without a bass. Played in lab bands in school that usually provided a high stool for the bassist. Now have an Ultra-brand drummer's throne with backrest that adjusts taller than most. Some people seem to think it's not 'rock'n'roll' to sit while playing though. Why not?
Unless you're playing a slab-style P-bass or flying V, doesn't sitting solve the bass weight problem?

If a bass is heavy enough to cause pain and/or discomfort, by the end of the night you'll be playing way below your best.

I'm currently auditioning a Cort (7lbs), an Ibanez (7lbs) and a Sandberg (6.8lbs), and I'm experiencing no weight related issues.
