BASS WHAMMY REISSUE!

Nice.
I got to play with the ones at NAMM which was fun but even with headphones it was impossible to be able to really listen to how it sounded. Mine should HOPEFULLY be shipping from Sweetwater next week, I confirmed with a sales tech that I'm in the first preorder batch.

That is the two-edged sword that is NAMM. You get to see but not really hear the new stuff. Maybe next year we'll do a listening room or something.

My last Digitech Whammy (the original) was a trooper and helped define my sound. I was onstage at an outdoor festival (I think that DJ Shadow and some George Clinton project were headlining) when the effect shorted out and created the loudest, most insane screeching sound I've ever heard. It instantly flattened about 500 hippies in the front rows. DJ Shadow laughed at me from backstage. Even still, I've dreamed about owning a new one. Thanks Digitech. However, is this one screech proof? lol.

Is there a Bass Whammy release date for the masses? I hope it's more like early March than late March. This is the first pedal I've ever had pre-release GAS for. I would pre-order one now from MF or anywhere else if they'd list it there. I see other NAMM items that I can buy now that will not ship 'til April, so why not this beauty?

Mr. DigiTechRep, I have the current Whammy 5 and love it. The new bass whammy obviously shares quite a bit of the form and functionality of it. Other than the intervals programmed into the bass version, are there any other significant differences between the two? Is this one somehow better at tracking lower pitches or something? I've been very impressed with my Whammy 5.

I'm not DigiTechRep but

I also own the Whammy 5 and after trying the Bass Whammy out at NAMM I can say that they do sound different and yes the BW does seem to track the lower pitches better.



Like I said in a earlier post in this thread, the tracking is unbelievable.

Yes, the Bass Whammy has been tuned specifically for bass. The Whammy V does track bass very well until you get that low-B flappin' on a 5/6 string. The Bass Whammy has been tuned to track lower frequencies a lot better than the Whammy V. I fully expect people to do side-by-side comparisons at some point.
