bass with pickup close to bridge

I'm a huge fan of that placement as well. Fantastic midrange finger-funk tone to it.

Status Graphite does a close pickup to the bridge placement.
I've found that most Peaveys do as well, if you don't have the money or patience to find a Status.
Fender/Sadowsky may refer to that as "70s" position, but mainly just for the Jazz. The new "Modern Player has some close placement.
Washburn had that as well.
And Hill/Bootleg does some really close placement.

Musicman, not so much. It's in a great spot, but not nearly as close as a lot of others.
