Bass won't stop overdriving. need help

I have an Ibanez ergodyne edc 700 4 string active that won't stop distorting. I have done what trouble shooting i know how to do; changing amps, batteries, cables. I am actually getting a cleaner sound when I switch overdrive on on the amp.

I have little know how with guitar repairs, and would like to avoid paying to get it fixed.

Any and all advice is appreciated,

-Mike

You're not running all of the knobs at 10, are you?

Does your amp have a -10dB pad (sometimes labeled an "active input")?

are you sure the battery you changed it for was a good one? distorted output usually means a dying battery.

(also, +1 to @ctmullins' point about not diming all the EQ knobs.)
