Basses bassists bad-mouth

Fender has its detractors, Rickenbacker, too.
Some people put down Dean basses and I'm sure there are others, but Gamma gets nothing but gruff, from what I've read.
Haven't played it in over a year.
Only P bass I own.
Stored away with some other gear...I have eight other basses...I took it for a spin yesterday and it was like driving a classic car, no nonsense, it simply gets the job done.
Passive, pure and potent...I couldn’t put it down!

For some reason, it has a very expressive tone control

Funny thing is, I have the bad habit of criticizing certain basses. It's a hard habit to break but...

While I do agree, I think that Talkbass would be a very boring place if its members shared your belief.

The bottom line is we all like what we like.

I love my Squiers and parts basses that are Squier/Fender parts. End of my story. If you don't agree that's not for me to worry about.

I try very hard to not criticize basses I don't like and scroll on. I look at many NBD posts and see something I don't like. No comment needed from me, someone's excited about their purchase/trade, good for them. My biggest criticism is I don't like black or brown sunburst basses, and no tort. But again, those are my opinions that should not matter to you if you like them.

And I never heard of Gamma basses, but the orange is cool.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a post where I criticized any bass. There are basses I love and own; or wish I could own. And there are basses that don't interest me and I wouldn't buy.
But I don't "bad mouth" them. I just shut up.

Can't say it any better... including the bit about sunburst, black, and tort. I would, for me, add natural. That said, it sure hasn't stopped me from coveting, buying, and loving basses in those colors (except maybe the tort haha).

I find scroll basses unappealing, very rarely do i find any bass with a pickgurd appealing, and I strongly dislike tort. Like, I really despise tort. But I don't need to badmouth any of them, you should get to play whatever inspires you.

The only time I'll comment on the oddness of putting cheap plastic over nice wood, or how literally anything will look better on literally any bass than does tort is if someone specifically asks for design opinions.

Otherwise, let you rock your way.

Side note: I have a 1993 G&L L5500. It's (as far as I know) the only factory G&L without proper G&L pickups - it has EMG. I do get snark about it not being a "legit" G&L, and do see people badmouth them on the web. So, that's one. I'd think people should rather focus on the fact that the thing weighs 14 lbs. Inhumane.

I get a lot of grief because my collection is all what most would call "budget basses". I own an Epiphone, I own a few Ibanez, I own a couple LTD basses. Whatevz, I like them.

Being a natural outsider I don't mind that some of my favorite bass makers get no respect. It has allowed me to get some spectacular basses for far less than their actual worth like my several Carvin LB50s as well as a pair of Peavey basses.

I feel that on TB, every bass that has haters has a cult following (looking at you Glarry.)

In my real-world circles, it’s Squier hands down.
