Basses Fender/Squier should make

A Squier PJ -

- Vintage Modifed range
- 4 string
- Precision body, gloss finish
- Maple neck & board, bound & blocked in black, with the 1.615" nut width (a la the Nate Mendel sig); satin finish on neck, gloss on fretboard and headstock
- Standard Squier VM precision pup, and a split-coil Jazz pup in the bridge
- The bridge from the current VM PJs (Invalid Link Removed)
- Squier-brand Ultralite tuner copies (those should exist..)
- Stealth A-string retainer, or a Hipshot-style 3 string retainer
- Master volume, master tone & a 4 way rotary pickup selector/switch (P pup, both in series, both in parallel, J pup)
- Knurled chrome knobs
- Same lightweight bodies they use for the current VM PJs
- Full-size pots & Switchcraft jack, just to save me swapping them out
- B/W/B pickguard
- Colour choices of at least black, 3TSB, oly white, CAR, LPB, surf green, shell pink

I'm not saying it's realistic... but if this happened with the same build quality as the current VM PJs, I'd probably end up with 5 or 6.

Just in case I ever get a signature model, I guess ;)

Fender already has the MIM Classic 50's, 60's, and 70's series basses...how about a Classic 80's Performer Bass?!

+1 on the 80's series basses. I don't think Fender has ever made an 80's style bass reissue type thing. Some great ideas here. Also +1 on the Squier Steve Harris (so much more affordable) and on reissuing the Jazz Bass Special!

I'm thinking a P bass with no pickguard (I hate those things)//no routing on the front of the body, with a 1 piece maple neck.
