Basses with colored strings...

My bass has got Blood Red Aurora strings (no pics yet) but the colour does rub off eventually. More so around the pickups, but most damage is normally done by picking it, or by playing for 2 hours or more. The areas of rubbed of colour are barely noticeable to a point, after about a year they will need changing (which is slightly less than most strings).

What? Who leaves strings on for a year? I change strings on my main bass, pretty much, bi-monthly. I can't stand dead strings at all. Also to the OP, I predominately use DR Hi-Beams and I tried the DR black beauties (coated Hi-Beams) and they were just dead. I bought 2 sets and they were both, straight out of the box, entirely lifeless. I was so disappointed that I called DR to complain, they sounded like dead strings, no snap nor brightness. Be careful if you like snappy, bright strings.
