Not that I've noticed, but it does wear off - more so from the right hand than the left in my experience.

My bass has got Blood Red Aurora strings (no pics yet) but the colour does rub off eventually. More so around the pickups, but most damage is normally done by picking it, or by playing for 2 hours or more. The areas of rubbed of colour are barely noticeable to a point, after about a year they will need changing (which is slightly less than most strings).

they are Optima Gold strings. Do a search for colored strings, there is already a pretty long thread. But since you asked...

Listerud Custom Explorer, based of 2 of John Entwistles basses (Alembic Exploiter/Spyder and the Status Graphite Buzzard)
The strings are as already mentioned, Optima Golds, And I usually in 'em in most german online string stores, I believe that Juststrings have them in USA?

Oh. my. god. That pick looks awesome! I am assuming that is custom painted, so who did that work? Id love to have a P-bass done that way.

I'm surprised only a little bit that someone hasn't figured out a way to do tie-dye strings or other modifications on the string color thing.
