Five string not so much. A five string version would not technically be a re-issue (it would be a blasphemy)

I would like to see Fender issue a standard series of bound blocked necks. Not really re-issues but a revisiting of that style, and not for $1800 - paying more than $1000 for a new Fender is unreasonable in my mind.

Re-issue 1978 Antiqua Jazz Bass.

Mosrite Basses. Not basses that just look like Mosrites, one that actually has the same specs.

Ibanez Black Eagle. Though maybe with a narrower neck.

I had a '76 or '78 Ripper, and of all the scores of instruments I've owned and sold over the years, it's the one I most regret parting with.

I had others that would be worth several times that bass today, but just based on sentiment, feel, sound, etc., I really miss it a little every day.

I'd also like to see an affordable NON-reverse T-bird.

Not really a reissue per se, but I'd love to see Wal basses go back into production, particularly the Mach I. Beyond that:

  1. An affordable Fender VI (aka Bass VI). Three grand, Fender? C'mon, in terms of wood and size, it's a Mustang bass with two extra strings (more or less), there's no reason an affordable (@ $900-$1200) version can't be made. Why should it be so expensive for what is essentially a long-necked Jaguar guitar?

  2. Rickenbacker 4005, the version with the bound front. I consider it a travesty that this bass is not available, not even as a custom order. Would it kill Rickenbacker to offer even a single bass that wasn't a variant of the 4001?

  3. Gibson RD Series – a really cool axe. If they could make the reissue faithfully (and weighing under 1000 pounds), it would be cool indeed. Between the Thunderbird and the RD, Gibson would have a kick@$$ bass lineup (sorry guys, I'm not a big fan of short-scale basses).

  4. Epiphone Rivoli – Epiphone's version of the EB2, they offered a reissue for a while, then killed it off.
I could probably think of a few more, but those are the first that come to mind. Please forgive my ranting and raving, guys! :)

Man, so many great ideas in here!
Strangely, even though I don't yearn for one of these hardly ever, I think if Steinberger reissued the original classic L-series, they'd get some real love. I haven't heard too many rave reviews on his new ones (maybe it's that bridge issue---I hear intonation is a bitch of not impossible--crazy on such a "futuristic" bass). I'd love one of the originals JUST for my reggae gigs!

Why are people putting sabres? I have one and love it but the newer MM HHs are better.

Isn't the Fender Steve Harris recently reissued?

Didn't Ibanez reissue the ATK because of TB and now they are blowing them out?
