Bassist with most UNIQUE tone

IMHO les claypool doesnt have a unique tone as I dont find him a very unique player .Just a very strong expressionist but sloppy player IMO

I have decided to not look at a single post before me, so this is all me baby!
Flea- the earlier MM stuff.
Marcus Miller- One of the best and most unique sounding slap tones to my ears.
Les Claypool- It is the CT that does it i suppose- although he gets equally funky tone out of his jazz.
Victor Wooten- Great unique finger and slapping tone. PErhaps it has to do with his technique?
Fieldy- Clankity Clank- pretty unique i guess.
Ryan Martine- Great Fretless mwah on those Warwicks. Don't know if i would call it unique, but he definately has his own sound.
Jeff Berlin- Man, he has one of the sweetest fingerstyle tones IMO.
Jaco- I am suer he has been brought up a billion times in this thread.
Geddy Lee- UNMISTAKABLE tone...
John Paul Jones- that 8 string makes his tone very unique.
Stanley Clarke- Maybe it is just the alembic, but his tone is pretty unique sounding.
Stu Hamm- BIG slap sound that is easily picked up and identified as his own.
Mark King- Same can be said about him.
(edit) Chrish Squire- Can't believe I forgot him! Great unique crunchy picked-Ric tone that we all know and love
Mike Dirnt- Don't know if i spelled his name right, but he has a nice throaty treb sound that I really dig.
That about does it i suppose (I know I will think of some more later). IT was hard to think about this, because there are so many great bassists (Nathan East, Steve Bailey, John Myung, Doug Wimbish, Pino...)- but not all of them have a really distinct tone. Not to say any of them have bad tone, they just dont stick out over anyone else.

Right on!!! I just got the DVD with an early 80s club show then later a 90's Reading Festival.....well festival. Very underrated unique sounding bassist.cowsgomoo said:

As far as pure tone, I can instantly discern when either Anthony Jackson or John Patitucci are playing. Both have a piano like brilliance.

Lately, there has been this one bassist who has this Pedullish, Bartolinish tone thing going on... not unique, but damn sure tasty to the guy at the helm (and the room, and the band).
