So, my father bought a bag of guitar parts and included were a set of SD Basslines jazz pickups for a 5 string jazz. They were in a ziploc bag with no labeling of any sort (model #, difference between neck and bridge, etc.). I decided to install them into my Squier 5 string and see how they sounded, but seeing as I have never installed pickups before, I figured I'd ask for help. Obviously I went on the SD website and looked at the diagram, but I noticed that one pickup had a black and white wire set while the other had a red and white. The diagram showed both pickups as having black and white. So, here are my 2 questions... #1 - Is there a difference between the bridge and neck pickups and if so, how can I tell by the info I have and #2 - How would you wire this pickup setup with the pickups having 2 different color pairs. Thanks for your help!

Basslines pickup wiring confusion...help?

Jazz bass pickups are usually two different sizes, so you wouldn't be able to mix them up, because they physically would not fit into the routes.
It is common practice for neck and bridge sets to have different colored wire for the hots. This is just the convention of how they are made. The only thing that you need to be worried about is making sure that the pickups get wired in phase. If you end up with a thin, nasal tone, when the pickups are used together, then swap the leads around on one pickup.
