Bassman 410 Neo Speaker Replacement

Hello TB'ers,

I purchased a used Bassman 410 Neo cab recently and discovered after purchase that one of the speakers has a frozen voice coil and another is ripped on the edges, creating a nasty buzz when I hit my e string. I'm looking to get replacement speakers but there is very little information online about the specific model of speakers and Fender hasn't responded to my email yet. I know they are a 10" Eminence USA neodymium-magnet speakers but does anyone know the specific model number? It looks like the only 10" Neo speaker that Eminence offers is the Deltalite II 2510 but it look slightly different than what is in the cab currently. Would there be significant issues if they are different speakers and I have 2 of each in a 410 cab?

Like as not they are a custom designed driver for that cabinet. Your best plan is to buy the proper drivers from Fender. That way all four drivers will work in harmony. Anything else results in a crapshoot.

Edit: I'm sorry for your disappointment. It's a horrible feeling being let down so.

Email is the new snail mail, and I bet their inboxes are full of the most asinine questions and comments. They're a big company, so you may want to call them. Maybe be prepared to buy when/if they answer because it may take some time to get them on the phone again.

Pretty sure they're a custom job. It's uncommon for a large mass manufacturer to use an off-the-shelf driver.

You were absolutely right. Eminence and Fender confirmed that it is a proprietary design and that I need to contact an authorized service center to have them order the speakers for me from their factory in Mexico and prove that I actually own the cabinet. Eminence did recommend the Basslite S2010 as being "very similar" to the original speakers but when I asked for specifics, they obviously couldn't indulge me due to the proprietary nature of the product. The Fender support person said it was even possible that they are the exact same speaker but obviously couldn't confirm it. At this point, I'm tempted to just purchase the off the shelf speaker from Eminence but I will wait to see what the services centers quote me as a price.

The kind of damage you're seeing isn't usually confined to just the speakers with visible issues--I wouldn't expect the other speakers to hold up well if the cabinet has been overpowered to that extent. So you might be better off getting all four new S2010s and keep the two working speakers as spares. PartsExpress usually sells speakers with a bit of a discount if you buy four. Good luck, Bob
