Battery/power bank board experiment

Just thought I’d throw this out there if anyone is wondering.

I put this together with 2 power hungry type pedals just to see what I could get away with.

The power is a ugreen 145w 25000 mah.
With the help of myvolt step up connectors
I was able to run these 2 pedals with zero hum for 2 gigs solid with around 25% to spare.

The batt also has a usb-A out that I ran a cali76 to the side ( won’t fit on board) and that works as well but I wanted these 2 pedals specifically and the deluxe comp in stomp gets me really close to my minimal comp needs.

All in all I have 130$ in batt, board and the myvolt step up adapters and I’d feel comfortable running 4 or 5 standard draw type pedals with ease.

Very nice. I love using powerbanks. I started out with a Thomann brand 10k powerbank, just to experiment with. It powers my B6 for 4-5 hours easily, which is more than I need on a single day. After doing my first show with it I was sold and got myself a 2nd spare. I'm never going back to power cables if I can help it (although I still have a regular power cable in my gigbag just in case). Recently I switched to an INIU 25000mAh in preparation of the DG Anagram which is inevitably coming. It's overkill for the B6, but the anagram need a lot more power.

I do have a question: What did you use to mount that powerbank underneath your board? Regular pedalboard velcro? I'm sure that'll hold it, but I'm rather reluctant of having to tear off the powerbank every time it needs charging. All that strain can't be good for the powerbank casing, I imagine.

I don’t remove for charging but it’s Velcro,
I ran a strap ( pictured) but opted out

I keep a anker at my home station with a 6’ chubbycable ,
Also have that in my gig bag for out of town or on gig situation.

I’m a huge fan of this!
I have a mackie thump go, so cocktail sets this year are gonna be pretty easy and without boundaries.

I’ve been messing around with powering a Cioks C4 with a $20 Iniu power bank, via a cheap 15volt PD dongle I bought five of on Amazon:

That gives switchable options of 9-12-15-18 volts on each of four outputs, with 550 mA per output at 9V. And I can just run a wall wart into the Cioks in situations where that’s convenient.

That Nevis is a really great piece of gear!
It’s definitely in my top 5 of all time but the pre/DI part of it is great for me !
I’ve done some sessions with it and had great results.
I haven’t used anything else in the studio since I got it.
But yes, the 2 together is badass

Here’s one that supports a 20 volt output as well, which would give you 660mA per output with the C4:



There are quite a few other variants out there, some with the barrel jack already installed. My power bank only supports up to 15V output, as I went for a more basic model. The PD trigger works fine without the Cioks a long as the load isn’t too tiny, but many of my DIY EQ pedals have very low current draw, and the load the Cioks presents keeps everything dead stable. I’m planning on doing an outboard power box for one of my basses using one of those PD triggers too, with a DIY 9V to +/-15V board driving a 4pin XLR.

I recently built a small pedalboard centered on an Anagram and an MVave MIDI controller, powered by a D'Addario 10kmAh USB-C PD battery pack. It works great for a 3 hr gig or rehearsal with power to spare. I've added an MXR Synth pedal to the layout and need to figure out if I can also power it with a USB battery. So far, I'm really happy being untethered from house power and extension cords.

yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but also had zero prior experience with battery packs. I bought my Anagram from another TBer and the sale included the battery pack, Chocolate MIDI controller, the D'Addario battery and a bunch of related cable items (it was a pretty good deal IMO). The seller said the battery would cover a 2hr gig, but in my uses, it will easily handle 3hrs with juice to spare. No idea about using battery power for the MXR pedal, guess I need to check that out.

That power bank I’m using ( ugreen 145w 25000mah) has only been a little noisy when using all 3 ports
And I believe that’s because the main port is pushing the stomp, then other “c” output pushing mantle and then output “A” Cali 76.
All pretty demanding.
I have an adapter to daisy chain but haven’t tried that yet.

I also have used my magnetic phone charger to run the Cali76 separate.
It works great!!

To answer the question,
I believe this power source could run quite a few pedals no problem but I’m gonna try daisy chaining about 5 pedals and see what happens

@JackMinion seems to be handling things just fine.

For me ( I believe) it’s all about the quality of transfer.
The chubby cables are just as long as needed and no more, and the myvolts tips are great!!
