Double Bass Bazantar

I love the sound of the banzatar and how he describes the challenges of building and playing it. I first saw that video on TB about a year and a half ago and I go back and watch it again every few months.

So many DIY creations just seem a bit silly ... it's inspiring to see a first class job of construction and playing. I know I wouldn't have the patience to build an instrument or learn to play a completely new system of music like that. Impressive.

I'm lucky enough to have recorded Mark playing this incredible instrument. He allowed me to pluck a few notes as well, but there is no way I could do it justice.

I have been reading Chuck Trager's books about optimizing the bass, and this instrument breaks probably ALL of the rules! In this case, who cares...

There's an article from the late 90s in DOUBLE BASSIST, but he was still experimenting with tunings at that point, he may have decided on something by now. Lemme know if you want me to post the info in the article...
