BBE BMax-T Users?

it's not the tube version...but I have the SS version. The signal is very hot on this thing, but if you set it up based upon the recommendations in the manual, then go about "adjusting" it--it is just a sweet sweet sound. Very well made and overall a keeper for me.
I like it!

Did you try running the preamp flat (2, 10, 2)?

Did you try cutting the bass control on your bass guitar?

I never said my bass was too hot, its just as hot as any active.

Yes I tried running it flat. I don't really believe its "flat".

Yes I tried cutting the bass on the guitar. But like I said, I like to EQ live on my bass, not the amp.

All in all, the setup might work for some, but I didn't see the need for an EQ on a pre that I could never really use, as I found it too hot for my needs. That's all. I'm not saying its a good or bad piece of gear, its just not for me.

I apologize for not making myself very clear.
My 1st remark was related to the settings on the preamp not your bass guitar.
i.e. "Why turn the preamp bass control up if the overall bass sound is already too hot?"

If, with your system, you turned the bass controls down on both preamp & bass guitar and it was still too hot, then that would be a definite issue.

Funny you should mention about it being "hot". I just returned mine to BBE to be checked out because I couldn't turn the GAIN up past "2" without the preamp distorting. I tried many different combinations of basses and setups. After talking to Memmo at BBE he suggested I send it in for service because something didn't sound right (no pun intended). BTW, BBe cust. service is phenominal. I'll keep you posted as to the outcome of my prob. because other than that, I'm really happy with the BMAX.
