Beaming with pride today!!

The band Spinning Jenny are recording clients of mine, and I found out today that they got chosen as one of the finalists for Paramore’s YouTube contest, and for good reason, because at ages 11, (bass/keys/vocals) 14, (drums) and 16, (guitar/vocals) well, they’re much better than a lot of adults I know. It is a little goofy to have Dad in the band too… But He’s doing an AMAZING job teaching them. Here is the video:

The bass player became my new favorite little person the other day. She was checking out one of my basses in the studio that had flats and said something like “wow. These strings feel great!!” I had one last set around, so I gave it to her. The next session she was all pumped. “I put those strings on, and they sound amazing when I play with a pick!!” She also agreed that she needs Pyramid flats on her Hofner. 8^D

I kind of like Dad being in the band, although if they ever get any record company interest, I imagine some weasel from the company is going to say, "We like the band but Dad has to go." Personally, I think that's what makes them cool...like the Partridge Family when Mom joined ;)

Oh, yeah, the Dad is an amazing guy, and thankfully doesn't feel the need to live vicariously through his daughters' band, etc... But he's helping them learn to be professional at a young age. These girls have a great family supporting them, and they're really lucky!!

This ones really good too. The drummer singing "skyfall", Great

Yeah, that was just from last week I think. Crazy how all three of them are great singers and multi-instrumentalists naturally. Their cousin John is ridiculously talented too. He's the brains behind the band Never Wake which is a fantastic metal band getting some traction. Not my thing, but very good. And their uncle is a singer in a band that has been around since the 80s. It is in the genes I guess!!

Yeah exactly, it's a shame the record industry seems to care more about public image (and making money off it of course) then true musical talent. I think it was a great cover and congrats to them, hope they win, but also go far in their musical careers. Always cool to see the younger generation getting into music. Props for the dad too for encouraging and spending time with his family.
