Bedroom Amp

Acoustic b200 is an excellent affordable practice amp, but maybe a bit larger and a bit louder than you want... Noone complains in my house though. 200 watts, single 15 with a tweet ...before that I was running a tube preamp and 15 inch cab simulation on my guitar podxt live.... worked pretty nice for practice.

I used a Peavey Minx for home practice for almost 20 years. It's a fine amp for that purpose. I've replaced it with a new Yorville Sound XM50C but that old Peavey still works. I've even used it for recording. Miced up at a distance of about 6" it sounds like a big amp.

But there are a lot of good small amps available cheap these days. The new Traynor Dynabass 50 is a good one. And it's very light too and will tilt back for use as a monitor.

Hey, there's a volume knob to keep it down for the quiet times, but should the situation arise (loud and drunken neighbor, proximity to a seismic lab, etc.), you've got it covered!

Would such a system not make for a good in-law repellent?

And if it's for the bedroom only, then portability isn't much of an issue. With a hinged backside, a fridge or 2x15 could hide a lot of contraband material....like a new bass.;)

Ya know, this is what's "FUNNY" everybody thinks you need these tiny little things for practice amps. All that gets you is something you don't see sitting there and you bust your toe on it. MY way you see the thing coming in the dark.

Seriously, a "bedroom amp" or living room amp, or practice amp, whatever does not need to be a USELESS POS that you can't use for anything except the wife sticking a plant on it or using it for a night stand... It should be the SPARE CAB, and the backup amplifier that you would gig with.

Just as NWB states, there's a volume knob on the thing. You don't need to do a Michael J Fox move on every amplifier you walk up too... There maybe a situation where you don't want to bust windows in the neighbors house, turn the knob down.

But when you're sitting around the house and there's nothing on TV, go ahead and crank the beotch up and rattle some dishes... You can't do that with a Marshall Mini Stack and a set of headphones. But I'll tell ya, I can play mine at headphone levels into the speakers. If I can play and watch TV at the same time, it isn't too loud. Beam me up Admiral and fire up the death star.
