I am looking for a Fender jazz bass, but preferably one with a neck that has some girth. Not the super slim modern C kind of thing. What series should I look at. Classic 60's? Classic 70's? May be MIM or MIA.

The '74 Jazz American Vintage has a very nice U-shaped neck that is thicker front to back while still 1.5" at the nut. The MIM '70s Jazz bass should be similar, but I've never played one of those.

I opened this thread with the same thought. Warmoth neck all the way.First thought - get a standard profile Wamoth neck. They are Uberbeefy.
If only there was a builder who would make you a J bass with a P neck, or a P bass with Jazz pickups...I'm curious about this, too...
I love the JBass sound, but don't like thin necks. My first basses had thin necks, so I'd gotten used to em a bit, but once I bought my PBass, thin necks became kind of annoying. I have relatively large hands, so chunky, deep, wide necks feel great and play way more smoothly for me.

I have one of these and it may be going on the chopping block in a month or so (as soon as another build is complete). I had no idea they went for $450 new. I'm not trying to sell it now. I just wanted to be included in the conversation. I actually like slim j necks.I put an allparts JMF-B JAZZ neck on my PBass. It's a baseball bat and super high quality. With some patience they can be found used for half what they go for new.
