Double Bass Beer bass

Thanks but I've already seen those and that's not what I'm talking about. A beer bass is ostensibly a miniature double bass generally used at one time by itinerant musicians. It was held on by a strap and I guess the guy played it arco that way. They were often played around pubs and beer halls and hence the name.

They are probably not made anymore but I was thinking there might be old engravings, sketches or paintings showing a musician playing one. There may even be old photographs.

my bass professor described beer basses as slightly smaller than 3/4 basses with small-ish, compact bodies. were used for pub-playing, pretty much up until electric basses became practical.

Somewhere in my postcard collection I have a photo of fellow walking around with one of these small basses strapped on. The bass looks a little strange and lumpy and has a few good size cracks in it from a hard life.

Somehow I don't think this is the "beer bass" you're looking for though.

I know a guy who has a rockabilly bass with a beer tap. Pretty sure its a King. Budweiser handle I think. It may have been played in a bar once or twice as well.

The beer bass was smaller than a 1/4 bass from what I gather. It was the smallest of all the bass violins.

The Czech Ease is probably the closest to the old beer bass currently being made, and for the same reasons: travel, compact, etc.
