I’m playing Beethoven 5 for the first time, just the 1st movement. IMSLP copies.

At the first long rest after the bunch near the beginning, the basses enter on a low G, pizz. It seems like it ought to be arco again at the low G half note but there’s no indication in my part.

Help? TIA.

You mean 10 measures before Rehearsal B? Yeah, that half note G is definitely arco. Usually people ask pizz vs. arco questions about the G quarter note right before the oboe solo before the Tempo I. And for that one, it's arco on the G, but pizz on the Ab preceding it. Some people do that Ab arco, and I'm not opposed to it. TMI . . . .

The part I was sent has no measure numbers nor rehearsal letters. I should go through and pencil in measure numbers, at least, then someone could give me letter numbers.

I appreciate the information, thanks much.
