Beggining Bassist: GSR100 or 200

I got my first bass for christmas Ibanez GSR100 (Left handed). I think im gonna return it and i have two options. A new GSR100 or a used GSR200.

Is the GSR 200 a big upgrade? I have a friend with a GSR200, its older (Not sure how old, at least a year) and moderately used. Would this be a better buy than getting a new GSR100?
Is it risky buying used basses?


Im still new to the bass scene. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I started out on the 200. In fact it's still my only bass. It's a GREAT bass for the money. I can't compare to the GSR100 because I've never handled one before (frankly I didn't even know there was a 100), but you can't go wrong with the 200.

The GSR100 and GSR200 are about the same build quality (entry level). The GSR100 has a sigle split-p pickup whereas the GSR200 has the split-p pickup (neck position) ans a jazz pickup (bridge position). Apparently the GSR200 also has more color options, otherwise they are very similar.
