Behold: the 12K basses from Warwick

They're imported from Germany, hence the super-high prices. Buying American-made basses in Europe isn't much fun for the wallet either.

EDIT: Where did you get these prices from? According to the US Custom Shop list, the JB bass sells for $8600.

I own a Warwick signature Pnut but it was no way near 12k it was under 4k. I bought it for two reasons 1) it's a streamer stage II with a jazzman pickups and 2) I am a huge Pnut fan. The bass was cheaper than the regular stage 2 basses when I bought her it was a no brainer for me.

Just from an economic point of view, why bother making these basses at first place, i.e. at production levels? Don't they have a custom shop? So, for the few insane bassists or collectors who want these models, they can get them there.
IMHO, these models are not instruments, they're jewelry or something, totally crazy.

Well it's routed for mudbuckers... so that means Darkstars drop in (kinda, you have to drill new mounting holes but those are covered by the pickup.)!

By far my favorite! Actually I love corvettes and corvette $$s. I like the look of the Thumb single cut but I only play 4bangers.

I don't imagine that they are rolling them off the production line like they are the normal line of basses. In fact, they might well be made to order, so it would be like ordering a Custom Shop model but with the specs chosen by your favourite bassist.

The prices are from the American price PDF on the German Warwick site:

The Music Farm website has the Clayton bass listed as $12,500 MSRP, $8,928.99 street, but "temporarily out of stock."

The JB Basses are listed as $9500 for the Thumb with the signature on the body and and $8400 for the "Reunion."

Wow. I just compared the UK prices against the US prices.

Bootsy is listed at £5396, which translates to $8227.
Clayton is listed at £6296, which translates to $9599
JB Reunion is listed at £3984, which translates to $6074
JB Signature is listed at £4849, which translates to $7393

There's quite a difference there, which is tipped in our favour (thankfully! :D).



On the other hand, look at Stingrays. Brand new 'Ray from Guitar Center is (according to their website) $1400. Cheapest 'Ray I've found that I could get hold of would be £1719, which works out as $2621, which is close on twice the price that you guys can get them for!
