A stupid, 4 AM analogy: A Porsche with flat tires is still a Porsche, but it's no fun to drive and doesn't behave well on the road. Of course, you could later on inflate the tires and have an excellent car, but the roads you'd have to travel before that happens will be a pain. I would prefer buying a "lesser" car, say a SAAB, with inflated tires.

now its my turn for my theory... mind you its only 7:30 pm over here, but i'm burnt out from studying...

Would you rather buy a SAAB instead of that beautyful porsche you've always wanted, just because you want a car? And then later on, sell the SAAB, and finally buy that Porsche (with good tires, no problems at all), but at a loss of a few grand due to you re-selling the SAAB at a lesser value due to the wear and tear you put on the car. OR you dont buy a car, save your pennys untill you can afford that beautyful Porsche (with no problems at all)... and be happy there?

consider both.... how soon do you NEED (not want mind you) this gear?

"Aardvark Q10 - it is good but expensive mainly due to the fact that it has so many phantom powered XLR mic slots. Sonically I dont think it is any better than the Delta etc Do you need to mic lots of mics at once?

Delta - very good card. Lots of jack inputs and outputs but it mainly deisgned forn use with a bog mixer ie. an 8 buss mixer. Although this is not essential by any means. That is just the idea behind it you understand. It has no XLR slots so you would need a mic preamp/mixer if you are going to use a mic/mics esp if they are condenser mics."

I seem to have got the whole idea of the Delta 1010 wrong. Apparently you'd need extra preamps for that as well... that would kind of leave you with the Q10 as the only option...
