I got this backMore info from Cindy Benedetto.
This is a model 1000b. Came in red, white or black finish. There was a 3000b with a painted headstock and a deluxe model that you see played by Jeff Berlin in the pic earlier.
These were USA-made by Bob in partnership with John Buscarino - another fine archtop guitar maker. They also made solidbody guitars during this time. They are not parts basses. Bob and John built the jigs and machines and cut the bodies and necks themselves. The pickups are not the original EMG's but SD Basslines Quarter Pounders run passive.
The instruments were discontinued because of the production costs. Bob said in hindsight they should have used precut necks and bodies to save money.
It's not my 2000 pre-Fender Benny guitar handmade by Bob but it is a Benedetto product.
Just acquired one of the 52 Benedetto basses made from 1986-87.
Does any other tb'er have one?
