Stanley Clarke does that a lot.But that's from playing a double bass.

My wrist huts just looking at that picture.

I gotta admit, I'm just the opposite: When I see a bassist with a mostly straight wrist on their plucking hand, I feel very uncomfortable, I have to stop watching!

Looks like the standard hand position to play a G Major chord on guitar. I'm guessing this bassist also has some experience strumming acoustic guitar?
