I was in a music store, saw a Bergantino B amp system, picked up a J-bass, plugged her in and was blown away. I'm curious if anyone has tried their upright though this amp and what was their opinion. ...

I heard one of the beta models before they went on sale and was blown away how powerful it sounded through an NV610.
It might be worth maintaining a separate thread for it here in the Double Bass forum to discuss how all the features pertain to this instrument. (Super hi-fi & flat baseline w/ adjustable hi-pass, notch & "bright", plus 2 or 3 user memory settings - could very well make my DB/doubling life easier...)
I hesitate to weigh in here as calling me a DB hack would be an insult to actual DB hacks, but I've hacked for @ 10 years and recently picked up a B|AMP to use as a preamp for my rig. I have a laminate Shen with a Full Circle, and have been very pleased so far. All the features work exactly as advertised, and its sounds great to my ears.
Again, I'm definitely 99% bass guitarist, but the 1% double bassist is quite pleased with the B|AMP.

I don't break out my upright often but can say that slab, AEG, AEB (fretted and fretless) all sound fantastic. The feature set is ideal. All of these have been through FRFR cabs (Barefaced BB2's and Fearless F110)
I wanted to bump this back up for further discussion. Anyone else using the B|AMP for DB? I've been messing around a bit with it at home and am more and more amazed at the feature set. The high-pass, low-pass, and variable feedback filters alone seem like home runs for DB. And don't let the extensive feature set scare you either, as it truly can be plug and play with just the front panel controls as well.
I realize gigs are rare nowadays, but I encourage anyone in the market for a DB (or doubling) rig to check it out. It really is an amazing piece of gear.

I purchased a B Amp 3 or 4 years ago to use with bass guitar. I use Bergantino cabs exclusively so I was especially curious about the B Amps cabinet preset feature and Mr. Bergantino's theory about cabinet tone. For the last 10 years my main double bass amp has been an Acoustic Image, for the transparency, but I've found the B Amp works better with double bass on gigs where I need more effects and I'm using a pedalboard. Also, with the B Amp's remotely switched presets I can EQ differently for pizz and arco. This is a wonderful option. I really like the B Amps versatility... it is a fairly transparent amp but has a bit more "hair" to it than the AI. I would highly recommend one for double bass to anyone.
I've had the B|Amp for a few weeks now, been putting it through its paces. IMHO it is phenomenal for upright bass. I've never had my amplified sound feel so natural and musical before. Was finally able to A/B it on a gig against my previous favorite DB amp (Glockenklang Soul) and it was no contest.
There are a lot of features and setting options but the biggest deal to me is just the baseline response with flat EQ & no compression. That has been my consistent favorite setting for DB (for electric bass for the first time ever I actually like adding some color & compression - and sometimes a dash of distortion).
I've located the HPF, notch filter & phase reverse functions in the menus but haven't had occasion to use any of that yet. What I have used is the speaker profile for my Bergantino cab and that does make an audible difference for the better. I've tried the B|Amp with a couple of other makers' cabs (Acme Low B-1 & Bag End S-15D) and it brings out a lot of midrange & high end nuance I never thought them to be capable of. But the Berg cab with the profile takes the hi-fi thing to the next level.
I was hoping I could plug my Realist Lifeline pickup straight in. It's not bad - the least compromised, most acceptable in a pinch of any amp I've attempted that with thus far. But the response is definitely better with my outboard buffer.

It is not. The Mk 2s will have a dark screen with glowing OLED letters.
Apparently this old model will continue to receive firmware updates.
I used my B Amp and a HDN112 with my Azola Scabard EUB last week and was the best sound I’ve ever gotten from that bass. With very little from the EQ settings I got a rich audible and articulate tone with lovely warm sustain. Can’t wait to gig it again. Gonna try that rig with my upright soon.
I tried the notch filter the other day during setup. Very quick to deploy - and effective! I haven't actually had to use it on a gig yet, but sooner or later I'll have another one of those unhappy jobs where they want DB at rock band stage volume.
