Double Bass Bergantino Super Pre

Depending how much it is on this side of the pond, I think I’ve found my new preamp!

It’s got everything I need:

-Presets to switch between clean and overdriven sound.
-Tube like overdrive.
-Compressor
-Tuner.


On paper, perfect. What I’ve heard from Bergantino before always sounded awesome.

My experience with the B|Amp has been that it's pretty easy to ignore features while they don't pertain - like the phase & feedback filter when I'm playing BG. ;)
I'm curious about the potential for plugging straight in and recalling scenes for pizz, arco and solos. And having a setting bank for each of my DBs. (The Kay w/ guts & full size 5-string w/ Spiro's are very different beasts.)
I am particularly excited about the potential for doubling. All this time I've been getting by with a passive switch box and a "one size fits all" amp setting. But I could be ready for more...

Just ordered one from Fret Nation. I plan on using it with my Demeters - HBP1's/VTBP-201/VTBP-M-800D and Bergie cabs. Also curious how it will pair with my Jule Monique 700. I had a B/Amp in the past and really liked all the features but it didn't have my Demeter tone. Now I'll have the best of both worlds hopefully. I most excited about the 21 presets and DSP for the cabs.

I like the idea of pairing it with a tube preamp section to get control and mojo.
I fired up the B|Amp last night for practice and found as I always have that while the EQ, compression and distortion are useful, I still can’t get them to replicate what my tube gear just does with zero effort.
I know the pedal has some next-gen “Big Fat Tube” capability. If it lived up to the promise, it would really be something.
Decades of prior let-downs have made me pretty skeptical about that particular aspect. But that’s okay; I often roll w/o tubes in my DB signal chain. Even a near-success could still be a bonus; I already enjoy B|Amp compression for thickening.

I don't double all that often these days. The last time I did I just took the Grace Felix, set one pre for DB and the other for EB, and set the DIP switch that puts the input selector foot switch into the A/B mode. The
Grace makes that really easy. I do realize that the Grace is a high ticket item. You could not have an additional EQ for Arco like you can with the Bergantino Preamp. Reading the Forte Manual there are variable HPF and LPF
and it has a 1 Meg Ohm input impedance.

I see multiple threads on this already. It's going to blow up the "TBerNet" my guess.

Variable everything. If done right, I would not call it a game changer, but definitely a player.

I have a pair of NV115's - and my guess is this head, feeding that, will be my "buyer me with" device.
