Beautiful day/evening in Monterey, and the gig was a blast. I grew up in a military family (Pops is a retired Army 1SG) so I've got a big soft spot for any military event. The band leader worked up an arrangement of an Armed Forces medley, and you would've thought we were world-class rock stars when we opened up the first full-band set with the piece. Chills...
Anyway, huge room, six horns, four vox, guitar/keys/drums/bass. Ran my Mike Lull M5V into the Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 and two Berg HT112ER cabs.

I've honestly never heard a better bass sound. Things got loud, particularly when everyone was feeling it in the last set, and I had gobs of horsepower to spare. No complaints whatsoever with this rig. Sonic heaven!
I could not wait to get to work to hear your clips. Your rig sits really nicely in the mix. I could hear every note, not boomy, just nice and fat in the mix. Nice stuff, really good playing and tone. How do you like the Bose Pa. I have never heard one in action.
Thanks for the response, Jerry. I know Brian Beller endorses the Lull basses so they must be great. BTW- I realized that you live in SF Bay area and had a gig in Monterey. If I recall, that is about a 2 hour drive each way. Makes for a long gig experience, eh?Virgil gets all the cool gigs.
Pete, the short answer...the Lull just sounds so good that it's the perfect bass for just about everything. Total Jazz bass vibe, with a little boost in all the right places. It sounds kinda-sorta old-school, and it just seems to sit perfectly in the mix. It's versatile enough that I can use it on jazz trio/quartet stuff and then crank it up for the disco stuff. On Saturday we went from "It Had To Be You" to "Car Wash" - and the bass did both justice (not sure about the bass player, though
The Sad would've worked too - just with a much more modern sound. Lots of options, and I certainly could've gone with the Roscoe on this one, but the Lull just seems to make everyone smile.

It is 4ohm, and I assume the price and weight will be somewhere between the AE210 and AE410. By the looks of it, this cab has more internal volume than the 2 x AE112, so should put out some pretty good wump.

Just got an update from Jim B. The AE-212 will run $999 plus shipping on out of state orders, or it will run $999 plus VA sales tax for in-state orders. Shipping on out of state orders will be $60, or VA sales tax (5%) will be $49.95 for in state orders.
The cab has the same footprint and frequency specs as AE-112 (it's just taller).
The cabs should begin shipping in July or August, and I am accepting preorders now. Ken is the first in line!
Jim B. will ship the cabs straight to you guys as soon as they're ready. Since these are drop ship orders, prepayment in full is required upfront.

The AE210 is 40 lbs, and the AE410 is 62 lbs, so the 212 is probably somewhere in between (45-50lb?). I don't have the specs yet, so I'm just guessing...
Oh, and shipping is going to be more like $60 due to the larger size.

How does the AE series differ from the HT series? I'm just curious.

The AE cabs use neo speakers, so they're the lightest weight Berg cabs. They also have a truck bed liner (spray on material) sort of finish as opposed to the HT's carpet.
Also, if I'm not mistaken...keep in mind that my mind is a dangerous thing...the amazing-sounding crossover & tweeter is exclusive to the HT series.

As someone toying with the idea of an AE410, I look forward to a comparative review.

I've never experienced any 212 or 2 x 112 that can keep up with a 410 (other than those 1212/6 cabs with the Eminence LF drivers, but that's a totally different thing, and a much bigger box also), but I'm looking forward to this cab and hoping it gives me 80% of the ooomph of the AE410 with a similar (and possibly a touch smoother and fatter) tone for smaller gigs.
+1 Different tweeter... the AE and HS line use the same tweeter I believe. I prefer the more aggressive top end of the AE series, but can see those that like a smoother woofer to tweeter transition, and a slightly more polite top end would dig the HT series. Quite different sound above 2K between the AE and the HT.
55 Pounds, according to an email from Jim I just received. So, basically similar size and lighter weight than the 2 x AE112 stack, and of course, much less money!
I am one who really likes a one cabinet form factor for ease of schlepping on a cart, and also the potential for the '2 driver in a single box' to have just at touch more oomph than the two single 12's (from my experience with other 2 x 112 versus 212 boxes from the same manufacturer.
This form factor will be PERFECT for my Kart-a-bag cart for small to moderate gigs where I don't need quite the oomph of the AE410 (which I have on castors).
My TecAmp s212 does a pretty good job at 40 pounds, but I am hoping I can get that extra 10% out of the AE, with the AE tone that I really love. We shall see!
I'm takin' one for the team and will eventually post up when it arrives.
This is the rig I gigged with Friday night. It is not my rig, but I sat in for another bassist and this was what he uses. Needles to say, it sounded incredible. He uses the Epi UL 502 head. I am not sure what model the Bergantino cab is, but it was killer. The bass is a Skjold PSD 5.
