best 2 ohm-capable amp

hello- i may be in the market for a solid state amp that will need to handle a 2ohm load- running 2 cabs- 1500watts total- 800 and 700. im sure this has been asked before- but 2 and ohm are not search-friendly words. any recommendations would be much appreciated.

There are at least two dozen amps that handle 2 ohms.

Do you have a brand preference? A preference for tone? Weight? Price?

Your question is almost as vague as asking "What's the best four-door car?"

Give some more specifics and perhaps you'll get some useful answers.

The Carvin B1500 is the is one of the best sounding bass amps that runs well at 2 ohms. It is on sale right now for $639. plus $21 shipping. It is rated at 1900 watts at 2 ohms. Regardless of price it is an outstanding head! I love mine.

+1 on the B1500. I've always used mine at 2 ohms have never had any issues.

Yamaha BBT500H is 500 watts into 2 Ohms. I think it was the first true 2 Ohm stable on the market, I could be wrong. I'm keeping mine. They only produced them for a year or so; you'll have to find a used one.

Genz Benz Neopak 3.5 w/the factory 2 ohm conversion, Genz Benz GBE 600, 750, 1200.

Older Peaveys are also a good bet. I like the Nitrobass/max450 and firebass/max700, even though they're heavy as heck and not exactly the flavor of the month.

I'll agree with the Peavey recommend there.

Love my Firebass, even though I use my SVT (which is also 2 ohm compatible ), I could never bring myself to sell the Firebass

thanks for the suggestions. weight/size are my primary concerns. im looking for an alternative to using 2 stewart amps at 4ohm- 11lb/1u each.

The Kustom 1200 and 1300 amps go down to 2 ohms. I love my Kustom 1200 but I have never brought it down to 2 ohms so I don't think I can comment on it too much.
