Best 2X10 cabinet...

IMHO, there is probably no such thing as "Best 2-10 cab". It comes down to "what works and sounds best for you".

My favorite 2-10 (and it is ported) is the Acme Low B 2-10. And why? Because it can produce the open E string, 41 hz at a flat db and it can produce the open B string at a -6db. Very, very few bass cabs can do this. So, the Acme gives an excellent low end. It is also a full range cab with a mid and a tweeter. Sold either 4 ohm or 8.

Draw back, the Acme is not a loud bass cab. About 93 db at one watt, one meter. Some bass cabs go over the 100 db level but sacrifice a degree of low end.

Good luck on your quest for a 2-10.

I agree with this. I had 4 of them, sold 2 and am considering selling one more.
They’re rated at 350 watts RMS but they operate better being pushed a bit around 400-500 watts.
I have a Greenboy F112 that I stack on it. It’s a phenomenal stack for larger gigs and really moves some air.

One word of "caution".

If a regular 2x10" cabinet (let's say rated at 300W RMS, 98dBSPL@1W sensitivity) is replaced with an Acme Low B2-10, with its 93dB sensitivity, it will sound (considerably) *less* loud, even at 600W/4ohms. Almost a "quarter" as loud as that regular 2x10" cabinet. (How perception scales with dBSPL is a matter of debate and strongly dependent on the material; some like to state 10dBSPL, which is a 10:1 ratio, as "half as loud").

Is it a problem? It depends on the application. If your problem with a regular 2x10" is that it sounds too lean, but it is far too loud for the way you generally use it, then an Acme Low B2-10 might be a good choice. (I don't know if it can actually take those 600W RMS that well in the first place, though; you might end up having to limit the bass anyway on the amp).

I've come to grips a 2X10 is all I'm using now, breaks my heart not dragging the NV610 around much anymore.

I'm using a Hartke HD210 which is a fine cabinet, new it cost $500 when I bought it, but I still got that "I'm gonna tear this thing up one of these days"swimming around in my stew brain. But it really is a good cabinet...

What in you guy's opinion is the best built, able to take a beating 2X10 out there?

I'm a sealed cabinet guy, I use an AG700 would love 4ohm though I know they're not many of those out there.

If I have to go ported, maybe that's what I got to do. I also know I'm gonna have to part with more than $500 this time, I'm not cheap.

Maybe I'll just have to go buy another Berg.

Any opinions?
If you like the Hartke sound, there was an older Hartke 210 cab that was sealed and identified with a name plate "Hartke Systems".
The wattage is lower than newer cabs but I have pushed it a little harder and it held up ok. Heavy though. Very solid no vibration design.

Check out the Barefaced Two10S. It's switchable between 4 and 12 ohms. I've been running a pair for a good few years now. They are great cabs.

I also have an NV610, and it's my favorite cabinet. The plan with the Two10 was to get (3) of them in order to run a modular 6X10 but I haven't found another on the used market yet, nor do I really have the need at this point.

I like my GR 210+. If I recall it can handle 600 watts at 4 ohms and it pairs well with my Ampeg Venture 7 (700 watts). I do find I have the amp turned up pretty high but then again my band plays really loud. Unfortunately it’s very expensive. But on the plus side it weighs almost nothing and is very compact.

Having said that I prefer my Markbass 3x10 at 6 ohms. I find the volume is lower on the amp for the same stage volume so there’s more headroom. And while it’s not as small or as light as the GR it’s pretty light at 32 pounds. It takes a beating pretty well and the Velcro on top is great - I stick my glasses case on top and they never fall off.
