Best 4-10 for less than $1000.00?

I got a new Ampeg 410he a couple months ago and it's terrific.

I'm also in the market for a 4X10, and though I love Markbass heads, I'm not married to the cabs.

Anything like the 410he but 1) lighter (like OP, weight is an issue), and 2) 4 ohms?

Also, front or shelf ported would suit me best.

I had an Avatar 410 for a while - $500 cabinet. I sold it and bought a Bergantino AE410 for $1200. The Berg was a little lighter and probably sounded better in a studio, but I'll be damned if I could discern any significant difference on a gig in a bar with drums and other guys playing. The cabinets sounded far more similar than different to me.

Avatars aren't the hot topic they once were but I still think they are awesome cabinets for the money. I'd probably do two 8-ohm 210s rather than one 410, though, because flexibility.

I bought a used avatar 4x10 for $225.......Sounds great......(.until I try something right next to it...to compare.).But until then...Im happy right now..

A 410 huh....I'd consider a fEARless F212. Or a Barefaced Super Twin. Or Aguilar GS212

"Best 410 under $1,000" ... is a used Greenboy Audio Fearless 210. It gets as loud as a good 410, fantastic tone, and weights 46 pounds. What's not to like about that?

If you can find a Genz Benz Uber 410...........or even the older model XB2 or XB3 cabs.....that'd be the direction I'd go. I've played through a lot of 410's and Genz Benz kicked all their @$$&$!

Fabulous cabinet, but is there much of a secondary market for them? Seems to me like one pops up in the classifieds only now and then, and usually sits there for ten minutes at most.

OP - how about an Avatar 210 together with a 112? Both Neo cabinets, so a little lighter. Together they give you the air-moving capability of a 410 but also give you the flexibility to use one or the other of them alone on a smaller gig.

I think right now the coolest Ampeg 4x10 cab is the PN410-HLF (neo-loaded, 64lbs, 850w, metal grille)

I'd look into Bergantino HS and Aguilar GS as other good options. If you are strictly a rock/metal guy the Mesa PH 410 is hard to beat.

Neo 2x12s and 2 1x12's are great choices too! I would definitely consider that whole area. I love the heck out of my PH 410's but they are beasts to move, especially the one that gets stacked without casters, around 100lb+ each! Neo 2x12's or even better 1x12s are a joy to move compared to what I'm used to.

I take your point. Great option if you can find one, but they're hard to find.
