Best 4-10 for less than $1000.00?

I have a 4-10 Mark Bass, and I really don t like it or their service. Thinking of goin back to Ampeg. High end 4-10, for bar scene and small gigs. I have Mark Bass 800 w head. It s very good. I used to use SWR and sold it I also used to use SVT . I'm old ! Anybody have comments on the high end ( forgot ) model but the best 4 -10.

Epifani UL1 410 4 ohm is the best I have played. It is pretty much a matter of personal taste, and one's willingness to put up with the terrible off-axis midrange dispersion of any 410, isn't it?

I use an ampeg 410he and like it. It's great if you want the 810e sound in a smaller package. It's a little weird if your right up standing over the cab but from 10 feet away I think it sounds fantastic. I got it after a long search to downsize from the 810e and other than the horn (which is adjustable) I feel like I kept the same tone with a cab that's not as loud but has the tone I worked on for years with my ampeg 810.

My main complaint is the stuff it's finished with with rips easily. I have a couple marks on mine from it going in and out of the trunk. But I figure I'll just let it "age" and if it starts to look really bad I'll just scrape it all off and stain it or something.

Mesa Powerhouse 4x10. Built like a tank and plenty loud...

Of course, you can't go wrong with Ampeg either.

Not easy to find and they seem to have a unique tone (or maybe super transparent that I'm not used to hearing?) - but I demo'd a Glockenklang 4x10 that was absolutely stellar. It was near $1k though. And it sounded different than other 4x10's I was A/B'ing it against - so that might be good or bad for you. I loved the tone though.

For $1k, your options are almost endless for a great cab.

In what ways? And does "outperform" mean you'll like the sound better? Because I've tried Aguilar 410's before, and while I do like their heads, I'd rather have a 410he because the Aggies were kind of dark without the tweeter on.

Better is subjective, but I come to this conclusion based on a combination of specs and prior personal experience. comparing the aggie dbs to the 410he would be a fairer fight, as the gs series is definitely colored dark

I personally think I'd be looking at genz benz cabs if I were him. Uber for modern neo sounds, or an xb2/3 ceramic for the fatness. I think the xb series are in same league the ampeg hlf series. Huge but without the mud.
