best 5 string bass?

first off, im a lefty, so if you know it doesnt come in a left handed form dont say it because if you show it to me and i want it but realize it only comes in right handed ill be really dissapointed. if your not sure if it does or doesnt come in lefty form post it anyway. ok so back to the question what is the best all around (best for slapping, fingerstyle, all types) 5 string fretted (dont need a fretless because i went all jaco pastorius on my fender P bass and made it fretless myself, and it sounds great by the way) bass guitar for under 1000 bills? i want to get something that i can play everything on, and that is a great bass and i can love for the rest of my life.

There are several questions that pop up every other day, Best 5 string, what bass should I buy, difference between a P and J, and on and on. Sometimes I even reply, other times I just pass right by. This time was sort of a compromise between those options.

hi dan,

instead of saying you should do a search, i'll just put in my 2 cents.

any of the MTD kingston series have great sounding B strings, perhaps not up to the quality of sadowsky or lakland but they are very very good. They also are 35" which creates a tighter sounding B. The artist, heir and zephyr are all really great and have a lot of cool features.
if you're lucky you can find one on ebay for quite cheap.
