Hey guys as I have said before I am intrested in play at my church and I got into the rock show program at guitar center I am thinking of getting a new small for these gigs at this point all I have is a basic one that came with my squier starter pack and if I trade that in this weekend I get the trade in value plus 10%off the amp I buy any suggestions

I play a fender american delux

Let me be the first to say buy used if you can. You'll almost always get more for your money. Check CL or the TB classifieds for a good used combo like an Ampeg, Fender or Peavey. A good used Ampeg B-15 would serve you well IMO.

I also doubt GC will give you anything worthwhile, if anything at all, on trade in for the Squier starter pack amp. The 10% off they're offering isn't really that great of deal either. If you email [email protected] and ask them for their best deal on a particular amp from their site you may find that you'll do better than 10%. I have had some great deals from this email in the past (more about their deals on this thread: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/musicians-friend.990911/).

Anyway, good luck with your search. Buying new gear, or even just new to you gear, is always fun ... that's why so many of us on here never seem to stop.

Lots of good stuff out there.

Two options:

1. Get a used combo (TB classified good place to start), but make sure it allows you to hook up an extension speaker, if you start playing bigger places. Combos without that option are a real dead end.

2. Get a light-weight head, and either a 2x10 or 1x12 cab. Again, look used first.

There are several options like this out there. I play at 1-2 venues during the week that don't require big volume so I use this to get the job done. Easy on the back and can get loud if needed. Definitely search used gear and you can come up with something solid for not a whole lot of $$

I have been using an Acoustic 360m stack for everything lately. Until I can scour up the cash for an Acoustic Image Ten2, the monster gets all the work. Big amps have a volume knob and work just fine as long as you have room for them.

That Carvin is a good rig. But don't get the cheaper line of the 2x10s. The one in his photo is much better, and worth the extra bucks.
The BRX10.2 is what I have and what Buldog is talking about. The cheaper ones are the BR series. I haven't seen that many pop up but you can get this cab used pretty cheap. I just went ahead and bought mine new and it was close to $400 shipped to me. I bought the BX500 used for around $225.
